Hardenhuish is an 11-18 co-educational comprehensive school set in the magnificent parkland of the former Hardenhuish Manor and Chippenham Grammar School. Following three very successful Ofsted inspections during the last decade it is highly regarded by the local community and regularly over subscribed. A recent major capital programme has provided the School with some of the finest facilities in the County in all areas of the curriculum, including those of its Specialist School status: Mathematics and Computing.
Headteacher’s Welcome
Dear Parents,
Welcome to the Hardenhuish School Website. For many, this will be your first contact with our school and I hope that it provides the information you need about our ethos and our values for young people.
The website will not be a substitute for the real thing however and if the information you find here is of interest, I hope that you will take an opportunity to visit Hardenhuish, meet with me and some of my colleagues and see something of our school during a normal working day.
Our school is set in the large and beautiful parkland of the former Hardenhuish Manor and Chippenham Grammar School. The generously equipped buildings and wonderful grounds create an ideal environment in which young people can grow and learn. We have recently seen the completion of a major capital programme. We now have a new Technology Centre, Sixth Form Centre, Sports Hall, English and Arts Centre, Science Centre and Mathematics Centre. Along with this the granting of Maths & Computing status helps make for exciting times at Hardenhuish and I will be really pleased to show you the transformed learning environment for teachers and pupils in the school.
We expect rigorous standards of behaviour, dress and hard work and yet ours is a relaxed and friendly environment. Our examination results are excellent at SAT, GCSE, AS and A level. And during our last OFSTED inspection the inspectors praised our commitment to high standards and performance:
“. . . . a good school with outstanding features . . . . partnership with parents is excellent . . . . pupils and students benefit from regular teaching from confident subject specialists . . . . the quality of teaching is a strength of the school . . . . pupils are happy in this school.”
As well as a strong emphasis on academic achievement, we also have an enviable tradition of extra-curricular activities which include the Duke of Edinburgh Award, Public Speaking, Music, Drama, Outdoor Pursuits, Sport and an annual end of year Activities Week in which all pupils take part.
Finally, moving to a new school can be difficult and is certainly a challenge for both young people and their parents. Here at Hardenhuish we strongly believe in supporting pupils through this period so that they quickly become established, make new friends and resume their studies in what I believe is an excellent educational environment.
I look forward to meeting you.
