About Our School

Welcome to Southfield Junior School

Southfield County Junior School is a state school which serves Highworth and its outlaying villages. There will be approximately 228 children on roll in September 2007. The building was opened in 1898 and has had additions in 1953 and 1969.

Southfield Junior School has a reputation for being a caring and friendly school where the work is varied and challenging and every child is valued. We believe that a child’s education should be based on a partnership between the home and the school. We want all parents to be fully involved in their child’s learning.

Southfield Junior School has a close relationship with parents and the local community. We hope this friendly co-operation continues for the mutual benefit of the town and our children.

At Southfield School we aim to:

  • Build on the learning experiences the children have received at Eastrop Infants School.

  • Deliver a curriculum that gives each child the concepts, skills, knowledge, attitudes and flexibility necessary for the future.

  • Enable each child to develop his/her potential to the full.

  • Help children to use language and number effectively.

  • Develop within each child a self respect, self reliance, self confidence, self discipline and self awareness that comes from being a valued member of a caring community.

  • Value each child as an individual where needs are constantly changing and developing.

  • Help develop a sense of religious and moral values, tolerance and a will to understand the ways of other people
