Our Pre-school aims to provide high quality care and education for children below school age. We work in partnership with parents and Bramham Primary School to help children learn and develop, and offer children and their parents a service that promotes equality and values diversity.
This is an ideal stepping-stone in independence and future education in conjunction with Bramham Primary School.
On a weekly basis our children are introduced to the ICT suite within the main part of the school.
In recent months they have also been introduced to the Key Stage 1 library and are taking part in the school's Bookworm Review Scheme, where children are rewarded every half term for interesting and exciting book reviews.
We ensure your child
• Is in a safe, secure and stimulating environment
• Is given generous care and attention because of the high ratio of adults to children
• Has the chance to join with other children and adults to live, play, work and learn together
• Is helped to take forward their learning and development by being helped to build on what they already know and can do
• Has a personal key worker
• Is in a pre-school that sees you as a partner in helping your child learn and develop and shares information with parents and carers
Curriculum:
Children start to learn about the world from the moment they are born. The care and education offered by our Pre-school helps children to continue to do this by providing all of the children with interesting activities that are right for their age and stage of development. For children between the ages of 3-5, the Pre-school provides a Curriculum for the Foundation Stage of Education. The Foundation Stage covers children’s expected development up to the age of 6 years by following a series of steppingstones.
We have support from an Early Years Partnership Advisory Teacher to develop our Curriculum and practice and fro the PSLA Development worker who advises and supports on a range of issues.
Keyworker System:
We have a keyworker system. This means that each member of staff has a group of children they are particularly responsible for.
Your child’s keyworker will be the person who works with you to make sure that what the Pre-school provides is right for your child’s particular needs and interests.
When your child first starts at Pre-school their keyworker will help to settle them in and throughout their time maximise the benefits from all of the activities.
Policies:
We have a range of policies that help us make sure that the service we provide is a high quality one. The staff and parents of the Pre-school work together to adopt and review these policies. Policies are available for you to read at any time on the parent’s notice board. The policies include Child Protection, Special Needs, Equal Opportunities, Behaviour, Health and Safety etc.
Parents:
Management – Bramham Under Fives is a registered charity. We are also a member of Leeds Pre-school Learning Alliance which is a National Charity supporting Pre-schools and parents in a number of ways. We are run by a parents committee who work in partnership with the staff to look at policies, finances, fundraising and services. We have meetings three times a year to discuss the group and an Annual General Meeting.
If you need any further information or would like to talk anything over then the staff are always available at the beginning or the end of the session and will be happy to help you.
