Welcome to the Bramhope Primary School Website!

We aim to give our pupils a foundation for life in a happy high achieving school, where individuals have high expectations of themselves, respect each other and fulfil their true potential.

Bramhope Primary School is situated centrally in the rural village of Bramhope, surrounded by green belt. Bramhope is approximately 10 miles from Leeds, and 3 miles from Otley & the Wharfe Valley. The school is housed in two buildingswithin spacious grounds; with two playgrounds and large open playing fields.

Lower School for Foundation Stage and the Key Stage 1 age groups (4-7 years), is of a partially open-planned design which facilities ease of movement from one activity to another.

Upper School accommodates children in the Key Stage 2 age groups (7-11 years) in separate spacious classrooms.

Both buildings have large halls that are used for assembly, physical education, drama and music. There are separate playgrounds attached to both buildings; the adjoining field is used regularly for lunchtime activities, outdoor games and school events. There is also a wildlife garden, adventure playground and pond.

We also have an independent term time nursery (from 2.5 years), and a Before and After School Club. Select the First Steps page, in the red button suite to learn more about the staff, children and activities in the Nursey. Select the OK Club, to learn more about ourcomprehensive provision for Before & After School Care.

The school was inspected in June 2007 and was judged to be a good school with many outstanding features. The following quotes are taken from the report:

“The leadership, vision and commitment of the headteacher is outstanding and has been particularly successful in securing strong team work and high levels of commitment from staff.”

The school’s excellent curriculum and outstanding care, guidance and support effectively lead to pupils’ outstanding personal development and well-being.”

“Relationships between staff and pupils are based on a mutual feeling of respect and understanding.”

“Excellent relationships and high expectations of pupils have helped to create a ‘family’ ethos and a culture that ensures that all pupils thoroughly enjoy their learning and develop as well rounded individuals.”

“Pupils leave the school as mature and confident individuals with personal and academic skills that will be valuable in later life.”

“The school’s curriculum is excellent in the way it helps promote effective learning and influences pupils’ personal development.”

“Pupils say that their teachers always have time for them and are always willing to give them extra help.”

“The headteacher shows outstanding energy and commitment and, together with her team, works effectively to ensure that pupils benefit from their time at Bramhope.”

“The skills of teaching assistants are used exceptionally well to support pupils who need extra help and to deliver specialist instruction, such as in information and communication technology (ICT).”

“The outstanding curriculum is very effectively enriched and adapted to provide maximum enjoyment for all pupils without distracting from the high priority given to develop the basic skills of literacy, numeracy and ICT.”

“The huge array of lunchtime and after school activities draws effectively on many members of the school staff and community who willingly share their skills with pupils.”

“Pupils are very well cared for in this happy and friendly environment.”

“Relationships are outstanding, pupils feel safe and secure and say that, ‘grown ups listen and help you sort out problems’.”

“There are particular strengths in the work of the learning mentor and the work done to nurture and support individual pupils experiencing personal problems.”

“Very effective partnerships with other schools and the community have helped to enhance the curriculum and the involvement of parents and carers in the education of their children.”

“Governance is outstanding because governors have a detailed understanding of what it is like for pupils at the school and they use this information to inform their decision making and to provide appropriate challenge to the school.”
