Welcome to Huddersfield New College
a sixth form college located on the outskirts of Huddersfield specialising in providing general and general-vocational education to 16 - 19 year old students in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Introduction
Our aim at Huddersfield New College is for all students to achieve their maximum potential. Throughout their course, we will encourage students to work hard; individual targets will be set for achievement and attendance, teachers and tutors will review progress and parents will be kept informed. This booklet gives details of these activities and processes. We believe the role of parents is of the utmost importance, even though all students in college are over 16. We will inform you of your son/daughter's progress and, if there are problems, we will contact you concerning specific difficulties. Your support is valued very highly by the college and we welcome any views you may have about your son/daughter's education at Huddersfield New College.
Reviews
At set times of the year subject teachers and personal tutors review your son/daughter's progress. During one-to-one interviews, personal tutors will use a range of information to support discussions on achievement and effort, including information from subject teachers. As part of the review each student draws up an action plan to help ensure improvement.
The purpose of the review changes through the year.
