Situated in South Kirklees near the village of New Mill, Lydgate is a Kirklees Local Authority day school accommodating approximately 87 pupils between the ages of 5 and 16 years.

Established over 27 years ago to provide for pupils with moderate learning difficulties the school features small group teaching by experienced staff, many of whom hold advanced qualifications in the education of pupils with special educational needs.

The school is proud of its record in meeting the needs of pupils with a variety of specific and general learning difficulties and continues to develop its provision to allow a broad range of quality educational opportunities and experiences for its pupils.
