Welcome to
Moorlands School

Established for over 100 years, Moorlands is dedicated to providing your child with the best education possible by offering an individually tailored experience within a happy environment. With a rich history of educating some of Yorkshire's most successful figures, the traditional values of quality, achievement and courtesy are as relevant today as they have always been. Being at Moorlands is like being part of a big, happy family where everyone knows each other from the 2 year olds to the oldest prefects.

From the age of 2½ - 13, children are actively encouraged and supported to ensure that each pupil can attain to the very best of their ability. We believe in giving consistent praise and reward to recognise each pupil's success across a wide and varied curriculum.

The school is conveniently located in Weetwood, North Leeds away from busy main roads, in its own beautiful building and leafy grounds, providing a happy and secure place for your child to learn. Easily accessible from Wetherby, Harrogate and Otley as well as all the suburbs of Leeds, plenty of parking is available.

We take pride in our track record of successfully preparing our children for entry to the region's and the UK's leading independent day and boarding schools both at 11 and 13. Moorlands is the only school in Leeds to prepare pupils for Common Entrance at 13 and we provide a specially developed curriculum for these pupils.

About Moorlands

Moorlands provides a happy, safe and stimulating learning environment from the age of 2 1/2 to 13.

Moorlands nursery accepts girls and boys from the age of 2 1/2 to 4+. The recent Ofsted report cited the facilities and care of this early learning provision to be excellent all round.

The pre prep department provides learning for Reception to Year 2 (ages 4+ - 7). The focus is on the development of potential and providing a smooth transition from nursery or home to school. Children are able to learn in a happy, stable, structured and disciplined environment.

The main school accommodates children aged 8 - 13. Pupils follow an enriched and varied curriculum and receive specialist teaching in dedicated subject areas. Pupils enjoy the benefits of small class sizes, a stimulating and secure study environment with friendly and highly experienced staff.

Moorlands prepares pupils for a broad range of post 11 and 13 day and boarding schools throughout the region and country. Our pupils are highly successful in reaching their school destinations of their choice.

Moorlands provides a generous pupil/teacher ratio allowing small class sizes and a great deal of individual attention. Specialist support is given to those requiring greater assistance.

Core subjects such as English, Mathematics and Science are taught by experienced teachers, providing a high quality education in a caring and supportive environment. Our enriched curriculum focuses on basic learning, offering reading, creative writing, handwriting, spelling, grammar, number work, tables and number bonding from the age of three.

At a higher level, modern languages including French and Spanish are taught from the age of seven. Senior pupils are offered separate sciences, (Physics, Chemistry and Biology), History, Geography, ICT and DT taught by specialist staff using well-equipped facilities. Pupils are highly encouraged to take part in Physical Education, the creative Arts and many extra curricular activities.
