Headteacher's letter

Choosing the right school for your child requires time, research and careful appraisal. The purpose of this prospectus is to provide you with essential information about The Mount School. I hope that it also gives you a feeling of what we particularly value and encourage, and what it is therefore, that makes The Mount School distinctive.

However, nothing can replace a visit to the school itself.  The setting alone is inspiring but what you will see the children doing and learning will excite you still further.

We are an Independent School and as such we are able to embrace educational innovations that we feel are appropriate, yet we maintain the traditions that are evidently worthwhile and timeless.  Thus we feel confident that the education we provide is relevant to the needs of your child as he or she grows up in the 21st Century.

The happiness of your son or daughter is of paramount importance to all the staff at The Mount School. We know that a happy child is more likely to meet the challenges we set as a matter of course for all our pupils.  This happiness is achieved by providing a safe, friendly, purposeful environment for your child.  Your son or daughter will be inspired by the range of activities and facilities we offer, all provided within the ordered setting of a former mill owner’s house in the leafy suburb of Edgerton.

The success of The Mount as a school is ultimately founded on the quality of the relationships that exist within its community.  Respect between people is very highly valued.  Boys and girls can develop easy relationships with their peers and a cheerful respect for adults.  Adults similarly act as good role models for our pupils.

Boys and girls remember The Mount as a happy school and as the place where they first experienced the joys of art, music, sport and learning. Ex pupils have gone on to achieve places in county sports teams, and to participate in the arts at a high level. Most of our pupils have gone on to pursue a university education. We are delighted that our former pupils come back to visit us and share with us the success they go on to achieve.

We invite you to discover for yourself what makes The Mount School a friendly and happy school, combining the best of traditional and modern education for your child.
