Welcome to Normanton Junior School

Normanton Junior School

Normanton Junior School is situated about 3 miles to the north-east of Wakefield. We are a two-and-a-half form entry school with 10 classes spread across the 7-11 age range. We have a dedicated staff of 12 teachers and 9 teaching assistants looking after our 300 pupils.

Originally built as a grammar school, we have plenty of classroom space to work in, as well as lots of outside space to spread into at playtimes and lunchtimes.

The school boasts an active school council and successful after-school clubs that include cricket, football, canoeing, chess and scrabble.

Headteacher's Welcome

Welcome to Normanton Junior School

Mrs Suzanne Tunn Head TeacherI hope that our website will provide you with useful information to enable you to get a good sense of our school and what it stands for. We are dedicated to providing the best education for all our pupils in a safe, secure and stimulating environment. We want our children to be happy, confident and self assured with strong values and principles. Our commitment to these principles was rewarded in May 2006 when we were awarded 'Investors in Pupils' status.

At Normanton Junior School, we strive to create a stimulating and challenging education for our children that will equip them for life. We want children to build a love of learning and a curiosity to find out more. We have a proud history of school visits and after school activities.

We value our partnership with parents and our community and have an ‘open door’ policy for parents and carers.

I hope that our website gives you an insight into the school, but of course visits are always welcomed.

Best wishes,

Suzanne Tunn
