ADMISSIONS

The present admission number agreed between the County Council and the School Governors is a maximum of fifteen.

The School serves the village and surrounding rural area from which parents seeking admission for their child (ren) will have priority. Surplus places can be offered to children from outside the recognised area the School serves. All admissions are dealt with by the Craven Education Office in Skipton (01756 792427).

Entry into full time education takes place once a year in September. Children with birthdays after 1st March do have the option of attending on a half day basis for half a term but in reality most parents choose for their child (ren) to stay for the whole day.

New entrants are invited to spend time in School at special sessions towards the end of term prior to that in which they will be admitted. There is, however, no legal obligation on parents for their child (ren) to attend school before their fifth birthday.

Individual arrangements are made for older pupils who transfer from another School.

We have set up a special service for those children who are about to start school. In the term prior to commencement we run an ‘Activity Box’ scheme. To introduce children to the range of activities they will meet in the School and to help them develop the skills they will need we offer you the opportunity to borrow the boxes. Each box contains a game, a pre-reading and pre-number activity, a jigsaw or threading toy to encourage dexterity and a book for you to read for pleasure with your child. When you have worked through one box it can be exchanged for another.

COLLECTIVE WORSHIP

Assemblies are held daily and on alternate Wednesdays they are taken by the vicar.

Assemblies have a religious, moral or a curriculum focus and as part of each assembly there is an act of Christian Worship.

Parents have the right to withdraw their child from the act of Christian Worship if they do not wish them to take part. Children would normally remain under the supervision of the class teacher to read texts with a moral message.

COMPOSITION OF CLASSES

The School offers the advantage of small classes. The number within each class for 2007 ranges from 22 to 27.

CLOTHING AND EQUIPMENT

The School has adopted a uniform that consists of clothing in royal blue/grey and white.

Sweatshirts, cardigans and polo shirts with our logo can all be ordered from school.

PE kit consists of plain blue or black shorts and a white tee shirt with pumps and trainers (pumps-indoor, trainers –outdoor). School sweatshirts and plain blue/black jogging bottoms may be used at other times of the year

Book bags, PE kit bags and rucksacks with the School logo can also be obtained from School.

Grey or black trousers, skirts, pinafore dresses, cardigans and pullovers are readily available at reasonable prices in Crosshills, Keighley and Skipton, as are shorts, skirts and dresses in school colours for summer wear.

All items of clothing must be marked with the child’s name.

No mobile phones are to be brought into school at any time.
