Headteacher's Welcome Statement

Julie Craig, HeadteacherWelcome to The King's School where we value every member of our learning community and aim to foster their unique talents and abilities to enable 'Success for All'.

We are passionately commited to individual achievement, personal growth and the pursuit of excellence. We are a happy and busy school with high expectations of learning, behaviour and attendance. Individuals in our caring and diverse community respect and value each other, whilst our extensive system of rewards encourages the ambition to succeed and celebrates both personal and academic success.

I believe our success depends on good teamwork, the individual child, their parents and our staff. By working together we can give our youngsters the best possible education and they will not only reach for the stars, but also touch them.

Looking forward to the positive contribution you can make to our learning community.

Our Values

Following research with governors, pupils, parents and staff in 2002, the following were on everyone's list of what matters to them in school:

  • Feeling safe
  • Decent behaviour/good manners/respect
  • Sense of self-worth
  • High achievement
  • Happy students and staff
  • High standards and expectations

We developed these into an ethos which should underpin all we do and then into aims to determine our direction.

We believe that the atmosphere of the school should be based on the following right and, of course, accompanying responsibilities. Everyone has:

  •  The right to feel safe
  • The right to be respected
  • The right to learn

This means everyone has the following responsibilities:

  • The responsibility to ensure their own and others' safety
  • The responsibility to treat others with respect, courtesy and tolerance
  • The responsibility to ensure others can learn well

In this setting we can persue our main aim:

Success for all
