Welcome to Thorner
Thorner CE Primary School is in an ideal location, being situated in the green area of Thorner village and taking its place as a central part of village life. We have close links with the local community and extend our work for children through school lettings e.g. Brownies, Out of School Club and football training. We have links with other groups such as Thorner Pre-School, Over 55's, and local churches. We use our village as a learning environment with its rich history, wonderful social relationships and superb natural habitats.

We are recognised as a Nationally Outstanding Primary School and pride ourselves on the high standard of education planned for and delivered at Thorner. We are fortunate to have a group of highly talented, dedicated and enthusiastic individuals working in school; teachers, trainee teachers, classroom support staff, administrators, lunchtime supervisors, cooks and caretaking/cleaning staff. They are all supportive of the school aims and this friendly atmosphere is the foundation of our philosophy for successful learning and fulfilling personal development.

Getting to know the children and their families well is a priority for all staff; it is this care that enables the children to be confident and comfortable, to give of their best and to develop a love of learning. We want parents of children at Thorner to be a large part of all that we do, as the partnership between home and school is crucial for a happy and successful educational experience for our youngsters. As a Church school, we take particular care to give children the full entitlement to develop spiritually, socially, culturally and morally and we include classes on citizenship.
Thank you for visiting our website, explore the site and you will find out all about us and what we have to offer your child.

Thorner Church of England Primary School is a small village school that values standards and achievement.

We are extremely proud of all that goes on here.

As our website demonstrates, the children at Thorner are supported in their learning by dedicated staff, governors and parents.

I encourage you to browse around our website,
