Learning excellence for the whole community
Wetherby High School is located at the centre of the historic market town of Wetherby, nestling on the border of North Yorkshire. Wetherby is a thriving business community built around an attractive town centre with its elegant market place, town hall, individual shops and cafes.
Wetherby High School is a highly successful school, a school for its students and for the whole community. The ethos of the school is rooted in the happiness and growth of each individual, in conjunction with excellence in its widest sense. We believe in the achievement of every individual in an environment where young people can be inspired and can flourish. Ours is a culture of creativity, confidence and care.
Rewarding attendance:
Government statistics have shown that if a student has an
attendance rate of 90% (ie equivalent to missing one half day of school each week) the result is an overall drop of at least one grade in all of their GCSE courses. At Wetherby High School we are proud of our strong attendance rates but we want to ensure that all students are given every encouragement to attend and achieve.
In 2007 the school launched a new initiative to recognise the many students who attend Wetherby High School every day and also those students who significantly improve their attendance rate. Any student with 100% attendance for a term will receive a certificate in a special assembly on the last day of each term. In addition to this the names of all the certificate winners in a year group will be put into a hat and a name will be drawn. The winners will receive two cinema tickets. |
