The staff, children and governors of Downview Primary School would like to welcome you to our school website.
Downview Primary is a school with history. Originally built in 1976, there have been many changes and we are proud of its special place in the lives of the people locally.
We take children from Year Reception to Year 6, preparing them for high school and beyond.
We hope you find our website useful and informative.
Children are normally admitted in the September of the school year in which they reach the age of five. For children with birthdays between 1st September and 31st December a full-time place is offered; for those with birthdays in the remainder of the year, a part-time place would be offered until the term in which the child reaches the age of five. It should be noted that deferred places can be kept open during Reception Year only.
As a primary school, successful transition is an important part of our ethos.
Nursery/School Liaison arrangements
Each child will (where possible) be visited by one of the reception team at their nursery during the term before they start school. This is a time for the children to get to know our reception teachers and ease the transition between nursery and school.
Induction to school and Home / School links
An opportunity will be provided for parents to meet with the class teachers, learning support assistants, headteacher and members of the Governing Body and Parents’ Association in the summer term prior to a child starting school. A Parent’s Information handbook will be provided. |
