Welcome to Bradford Primary School, a place that believes firmly in supporting children throughout their learning, personal and social development.

It is the aim of all staff to provide an environment where children can flourish by feeling secure, valued and able to discover their own talents and potential.

We hope that all our pupils will leave with positive and happy memories, equipped with the skills and confidence to build a successful future.

The Family School

As a small community school, long established in the area, we feel that the theme of the family school is very appropriate to Bradford.

A large percentage of the pupils represent the three or four generation of local families who have attended the school. Anyone observing the pupils at work or play would be immediately struck by the caring and pastoral role that older children provide for the little ones. This ethos is reflected in daily practise throughout school life whether children are actually related or not.

All the adult staff who work in the school encourage the family school ethos and this is why we consider ourselves one big family who work and develop together. We hold values of partnership and caring and sharing very highly. We believe firmly that a school atmosphere of close trust, support and care enables all pupils to develop positively and successfully, and above all, leave with a set of worthwhile values that they may pass on to others in the future.

About

School Dinner Menu

Bradford School operates their kitchen independently which means we have opted out of Devon Direct Services. We use real meat from a local butcher, milk from a local dairy and fresh vegetables from a greengrocer in Barnstaple where possible.

Schools Supporting Seafood
sponsored by Fish Fanatics

Winner: Bradford Primary School

Lucy Johns is on a one-woman crusade to ensure all the children at Bradford Primary learn to love seafood. She carefully selects the fish she uses in school meals, keeping both the tastes of young children and the nutritional content of the fish in mind. Using species such as salmon, cod, tuna, and prawns, Lucy prepares the fish in a health-conscious way and presents it attractively. Her tactics to encourage pupils to try her creations include: using star points when the children try fish; offering dishes such as stir-fries and kebabs to make the food look exciting and colourful; keeping the flavours simple; using herbs from the school garden, which the children have helped grow; and always being incredibly positive about the food she serves.
