Welcome to our website. We hope you enjoy reading about our school.

Chudleigh Knighton is a friendly village school of 80 children. It was the first school in Devon to enter into a hard federation with another local school. Since September 2006 we have been linked to Blackpool Primary School just down the road. One combined set of leaders and governors guide both schools.

This new federated arrangement has lead to rapid and exciting progress at Chudleigh Knighton. Our June 2007 Ofsted report confirmed what the children and parents already knew; this is a very good school with many outstanding features.

Our talented team of educators enjoy their work and the stimulating environment makes learning fun and raises standards. If this website makes you want to come and see for yourselves, please telephone and I or my House Captains will give you a guided tour.

Head of Teaching & Learning 10 October 2007

Ofsted Report

  • pupil's enjoyment of school life
  • the teacher's expectations of pupil achievement
  • our assessment, marking and target setting
  • the use and quality of our Teaching Assistants
  • the academic guidance and support given to pupils
  • every single aspect of the leadership and management of the school was graded Outstanding

For the full report please see the Ofsted website.

Children working

Internationalism

CyprusAfter achieving our Eco Schools Silver Awards last year, the children have decided this year they would like to explore other cultures more and work towards the Full International Schools Award. The British Council have already visited Chudleigh Knighton and we have gained the Intermediate Award.

As part of their work children have made contact with a primary school in Cyprus and are developing this new link.

GambiaThey have also written to children in a junior school in West Africa in The Gambia. We are using the correspondence to learn about a different culture and lifestyle.

Children will have the opportunity to learn European languages and our Multicultural Weeks allow children to spend a full five days studying another part of the world and how other children live.
