Welcome to Lympstone School’s Web Site

We are a village primary school on the edge of the seaside resort of Exmouth. We have 140 pupils, about average in size for primary schools in Devon , many of which serve small rural communities. About a quarter of children live in the nearby town of Exmouth. Pupils are divided into five classes; our average class size is 27.

We aim that all our children develop the knowledge, skills and understanding to live confident, healthy and independent lives. Our academic achievements are high and we give our children a broad curriculum with much emphasis on outdoor education, music, art and sport. We are a caring, welcoming school where we know and value all our children.

Our links with the local parish church are good. If you are considering applying for a place at our school for your children please make an appointment to visit the school during normal school hours so that you can get a real feel for what our school is like.

Schooling of young people in Lympstone has taken place for many hundreds of years, usually associated with one of our parish churches. The primary school has used the current site since 1831. Building work in the 1980s saw the end of outside toilets. The school now also has a library and ICT suite and would be unrecognisable (at least on the inside!) to the school of 100 years ago.
