Welcome from Ali Foster the Headteacher
Welcome to the Telford Infant School website. My name is Ali Foster and I was seconded to this post in September 1998. I successfully applied for the permanent post in March 2000. I have taught in Warwickshire for over twenty years and I am married with two children, a daughter of 24 and a son of 21.

Telford Infant School is a great place to work and learn, whether you are little or large! Do we ever stop learning? My colleagues are dedicated professionals and the children are self-motivated with a huge appetite for learning. We are a welcoming school with high expectations and have the support of an active parent
community.

We have several new projects evolving during the coming year, one of which is the use of interactive whiteboards, this will lead to more exciting adventures on our web pages.

If you require any further information about our school please do contact me. Our address is

Our Gevernors

A word of welcome from the governors

The school community is made up of many people and groups. At the centre quite rightly are the children. Sharing the limelight as well are the teachers and those adults who support them in their duty of teaching and care. The governing body has perhaps a less obvious role to play in the life of the school. We usually meet at the end of the day when the children have returned home. I am pleased to have this opportunity to welcome you to our school web site and hope that you will find the information here both helpful and interesting. It might help to answer two questions:

· Who are we?

We are a group of 13 people consisting of 5 parent governors, 3 local education authority appointed governors, 2 staff governors and 3 governors appointed from the local community. We serve for a term of 4 years and are joined by the head and deputy head, who serve as observers.

· What do we do?

We have received various powers from parliament which involve setting and monitoring the school budget. We ensure that the curriculum is well balanced and properly delivered. We report back to parents each year in respect of progress made in this area. We share in the appointment of staff; and there are many other areas too! Above all we aim to work to support the staff in respect of that central ingredient, your child.

I would be pleased to hear from anyone who wishes to know any more about the governors and their responsibilities.

David Gorvett – chair of governors
