Welcome to our Web Site!
Ysgol Abercraf is a small rural community primary school situated in the heart of the village of Abercraf, in the Swansea Valley.
Although our school was built at the turn of the century, our modern facilities ensure a broad curriculum is provided for our children. We have three classrooms, one of which is our designated Community Room. This is used by Mother & Toddler Group, our Community Playgroup and After School Club. We also have a Special Needs teaching facility in a newly structured classroom. Our School Hall is fully equipped for multi purposes. Hot lunches are served daily, PE and music is taught there and we have a large stage with lighting for school productions. Our school grounds are fully maintained to provide a range of activities, i.e. large marked sports field, nature areas, pond and marked school yard, all of which are within the school boundary. We also have wheelchair access to the school
We strongly believe that Our School is at the heart of the village, we work hard to provide strong links within our community.
The school has a comprehensive set of objectives, our aim is to provide an environment where all children are able to develop to their full potential.
We provide a caring and secure environment where children have respect for each other and for adults, developing within the child a personal and moral code, sensitive to the needs of others, as a preparation for adult life.
We nurture links between school, home and the local community, ensuring Our School is regarded with the utmost pride, both internally and externally; education is of the highest standard.
On three evenings a week we hold 'Big Steps' which is a well established, Social Services registered After-School Club, which provides safe, stimulating childcare facilities for children both within and outside our school, between 3.15 and 5.30pm. We also hold extra-curricular clubs on one afternoon a week.
As you can see from the Diary Dates on our 'News' page, we are a busy little school, fully involved with our community.
