28TH June 2007
Dear Parent,
This has been another great year for the school. Outstanding Examination results combined with a refurbishment of the old block has seen the school gain recognition for its work both locally and nationally. Delegates from Northern Ireland have visited us to observe our school improvements, and discuss our links with the community. We now have cutting edge facilities in ICT, languages, music and science.
STRIDES on the school site is starting to gather pace, as it offers an adult learning provision for local people. I recommend you contact STRIDES personnel if you wish to take part in adult training. The contact number is 893694.
Year ten parents need to remind children that the coursework fortnight after their exams is critical as it will be used to prepare them for GCSE assessments. Please ensure they attend. Lessons continue to the end of term please support us with good attendance I have asked the EWO service to closely monitor attendance over this period.
School Uniform is on sale every day in the Library until Friday 20th July. No uniform will be on sale during the Summer Holidays, other than week commencing Tuesday 28th August when it will be on sale between 9.30 am -12 noon. However, during the holidays completed order forms and payment may be left at Reception for collection during week commencing 28th August. To avoid disappointed please try to purchase uniform as soon as possible.
Distinctive School Clothing Grant forms (for pupils entering Yr.7 and Yr.10 in September 2007) and Free School Meal forms, are available from the school office. All forms must be accompanied by proof of benefits received or be certified by the relevant agency. Please try to return the forms before the end of term.
I hope you have a good summer break and if your child is awaiting GCSE results that all their efforts, as well as yours, are rewarded.
Yours sincerely,
