Welcome to Blowers Green Primary School Web-Site

Blowers Green is a lively, exciting school situated near the centre of Dudley.

We are a multi-cultural and multi-faith establishment and welcome all children and adults regardless of race colour or creed.

We believe in educating all children for life in our plural society. Three Ofsted inspections show we are achieving success in this.

We aim to provide a good quality education for all children both academic and social. We offer the full range of National Curriculum subjects as well as many other extra-curricular activities.

The school welcomes parental involvement. A number of parents help in school and are completing N.V.Q. qualifications. We also offer a range of courses for parents such as computer skills, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and fun sessions for Moms and Tots.

We aim to develop happy, caring and contented young people who, when they eventually leave school will have the necessary skills and attitudes to play a vital and positive role in contemporary society.

If you would like to know more about us, please browse our web site or come and visit us. We can be contacted on 01384 818490.

Information for Parents

Arriving at School and Parking

Blowers Green Road is extremely busy and so we urge parents to be especially vigilant when dropping off and collecting pupils.

Please do not use the school car park to drop off pupils as it s very congested and can be dangerous. Please use the pedestrian gate for walking pupils to the back playground gate, not the school car park gate.

The front school entrance should only be used for children arriving at school after the school bell or for collecting children attending appointments, during the school day.

School Day

Pupils should be on the school premises by 8.40am.

The bell will ring at 8.50am to start the school day.

Morning break starts at 10.30am and ends at 10.45am.

Early Years lunch begins at 12.05pm and ends at 1.05pm.

Key Stage 2 lunch begins at 12.15pm and ends at 1.15pm.

Key Stage 1 has an afternoon break.

Key Stage 2 work straight through to the end of the day.

The school day ends at 3.15pm.

Absence

It is vital that pupils attend school regularly in order to develop to their full potential. The school believes that all children should attend school daily unless there is a genuine reason for absence.

The school register is recorded electronically at the start of the morning and afternoon sessions. If your child is unable to attend it is vital that the school receives prompt notification by telephone or letter, otherwise the absence will be recorded as unauthorised.

Pupils are allowed up to two weeks extended holiday leave, at the discretion of the head. Full details of the holiday must be given on a formal holiday form, which can be obtained from the school office.

Behaviour and Discipline

The school sets and expects high standards of behaviour from all pupils.

The school has a behaviour and discipline policy, which follows the assertive discipline model. Each classroom has the school golden rules, rewards and sanctions on display and these form an integral part of the teaching and learning process. They are also regularly reviewed and reinforced in school assemblies.

Class teachers have the main responsibility for classroom discipline and pastoral care. Behaviour will be discussed as part of the regular parents meetings which take place termly. In severe cases of misbehaviour, parents will always be informed immediately so that parents and the school can work together towards a solution.

The school will not tolerate incidents of bullying or racism and has procedures in place for dealing with them should they arise.
