Dear Parents

Welcome to Brockmoor Primary School.

Brockmoor is a two form entry school, which caters for children from Nursery to Year 6.  It is a school where each child is valued and respected.  Our aim is to provide a caring, safe, secure and stimulating environment where your child is encouraged to become self-confident and a self disciplined learner.

We believe that the partnership between parents and school is very important and invite you to be involved in your child’s education.

I look forward to working with you and developing a strong link between home and school.  Working together in partnership we can ensure that your child enjoys their time at Brockmoor and reaches their full potential.

This booklet is an introduction to our school.  Please visit, telephone or write to me for further information.

Yours sincerely

Richard Pithers.

Head Teacher.

INTRODUCTION

Brockmoor Primary School is part of the Brockmoor and Brierley Hill community and as such seeks to serve those who live near to the school.  The area is proud of its history, its heritage and its community.

There have been many changes in the area within the last twenty years, not least the development of the Merry Hill Shopping centre and the effects of the decline in manufacturing industries.

Since the 1980’s the community has changed bringing members of ethnic minorities, mainly of Asian origin, into the area.  This has resulted in a welcome diversity of culture and religion.

The present school building was built in 1994 and opened by HRH The Duke of Gloucester.  In the last few years the school has enhanced its provision of ICT for all the children to include interactive whiteboards in all the teaching areas.

We have held the Investor in People Award for the past three years and the school is also a member of the Dudley Health Promoting Schools.  In 2005 the school was awarded the Basic Skills Quality Mark, a highly prestigious award of which we are justly proud.

AIMS

All children are valued as individuals and whilst in our care we aim to:

·        Create a secure, happy and caring environment where everyone feels valued and respected.

·        Provide a broad, balanced and stimulating curriculum within and beyond the current statutory requirements.

·        Create an atmosphere which promotes high standards of moral and social behaviour and which enables everyone to achieve their best.

·        Encourage our pupils to strive for high academic standards and to be ambitious.

·        Encourage everyone to become interested and involved in the life of the school and the wider community.

·        Recognise everyone’s efforts and achievements.

·        Encourage everyone to value and celebrate the religious, cultural and social diversity that exists within our community.
