We are a Catholic Primary School set in extensive grounds to the east of the city.We serve a wide catchment area including Ernesford Grange,Stoke Aldermoor,Willenhall and Binley.

Our OFSTED report(Dec.2000)describes us as 'a good school with many very good features where pupils make good progress. It achieves consistently high standards in relation to similar schools and pupils have very good attitudes to school and are enthusiastic about their work and school life'.

We feel that our school life reflects our Mission Statement. 'In our school we are committed to proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ through the life and activities of the school, to seek out Christ in all the members of our school community and to bring to each member the deep personal concern of Christ Himself. As each person involved in the school, whether child or adult, makes a personal journey of faith we aim to give to one another acceptance, affirmation and opportunities to experience God's love.'

Our Religious Inspection during the same school year states 'There is very good Catholic ethos characterised by the excellent relationship with the school community living out its Mission Statement.'

Our mission

In our school we are committed to proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ through the life and activities of the School, to seek out Christ in all members of our School Community and to bring to each member the deep personal concern of Christi Himself. As each person involved in the School, whether child or adult, makes a personal journey of faith we aim to give to one another acceptance, affirmation and opportunities to experience God’s Love.

We will endeavour to make this ethos an everyday reality in our School by living it out in the following aims. They are all inter-related and are not placed in any order of importance as all are vital to our mission.

AIMS:

1. to show concern for all staff, teaching and non-teaching, parents and pupils in our School which looks to Christ for the basis of its existence.

2. To make prayer, Assembly and Liturgy, real educational experiences and to contribute successfully to the development of faith within each individual in the School Community.

3. To ensure that the pupil’s experiences of relationships within the School have an informative influence on their understanding of relationships.

4. To create between home, parish and School a close partnership which prepares pupil’s for their entry into the wider community.

5. To ensure that the curriculum provides a Catholic Christian setting in which children can grow in understanding and the acquisition of skills, attitudes and values.

ADMISSIONS

ADMISSIONS POLICY

As a Catholic School preference is given to those children who are of the Catholic Faith and whose parents wish them to have a Catholic Education. The Governing Body of the School determines all admissions and in their allocation of places they give consideration to a number of factors:-

(i) the Criteria of Admissions to the School

(ii) the legal requirements regarding health and safety in
relation to the numerical capacity of the School

(iii) the need to maintain the Catholic ethos of the School

(iv) the entitlement to be taught in a class of a reasonable size

The School Standards and Framework Act 1998 requires that all infant class (Years R, 1 and 2) sizes must be limited to a maximum number of 30 by September 2001. The City Council has submitted a plan to meet the new class size limit for approval by the Secretary of State for Education and Employment.

The standard numbers and admission limits for some schools will change for admissions in September 1999. The proposed admissions limits and standard numbers are based on multiples of 15 and 30 which will help schools to organise infant classes of 30 pupils or fewer.
