The site continues to change and develop. There have been problems maintaining the pond but the meadow is now full of wild flowers each summer. The recent rain has helped re-establish the pond.
As we are committed to Environmental Education, our County Advisor Derrick Golland, suggested that we become involved in the Eco Schools project and we became the first primary school in Staffordshire to gain an Eco flag. In December 2001 we gained our fourth flag and were awarded permanent Eco status.
At the same time we became interested in the work of the World Wide Fund for Nature through their 'Reaching Out' Programme. We applied for and won a Curriculum Management Award from WWF-UK to develop Education for Sustainability and with their help our understanding of the importance of educating for a sustainable future has developed. Teachers sharing our ethos can contact the school on the Web Links page. |
