Welcome to our project pages. We hope that you will enjoy
finding out how we have worked to become an Eco-School and how we have learnt even more about sustainability by working with Eco schools and the World Wide Fund for Nature

In its short life our school has seen many changes. It opened in the late 1960's with both Infants and Junior
Departments. Soon these were to
become separate First and Middle schools. However, when schools were reorganised in the Burntwood area we became
one primary school. We had too much space and so it was decided to
demolish the First School.

If you 'click' on the Beginnings navigation button you can find out what happened next.

This is our school

The site continues to change and develop. There have been
problems maintaining the pond but the meadow is now full of wild flowers each summer. The recent rain has helped re-establish the pond.

As we are committed to Environmental Education, our County
Advisor Derrick Golland, suggested that we become involved in the Eco Schools project and we became the first primary school in Staffordshire to gain an Eco flag.  In December 2001 we gained our fourth flag and were awarded permanent Eco status.

At the same time we became interested in the work of the World Wide Fund for Nature through their 'Reaching Out'
Programme. We applied for and won a Curriculum Management Award from WWF-UK to develop Education for Sustainability and with their help our understanding of the importance of
educating for a sustainable future has developed. Teachers
sharing our ethos can contact the school on the Web Links page.
