This website is intended to provide an introduction and welcome to our school, which opened in September 2000. It gives you a brief outline of our school. If you have any questions, or have any worries about your child, please do not hesitate to contact us either by telephone, letter or in person.
WHY ARE WE SPECIAL? The Westminster School caters for pupils with Moderate Learning Difficulties, plus Additional Needs. We currently have two sites -WestBromwich which catersfor pupils aged 11-16 years, and Tipton which currently has pupils aged 9-17 years. Post-16 provision was successfully introduced this year. We offer our pupils a broad and balanced curriculum, whilst aiming to meet their individual special educational needs. The school is committed to equalopportunities, and all pupils are expected to leave school with accredited qualifications. Preparationfor life takes on a more prominent role as pupils progress through the school. At all times they are expected to work and behave responsibly, showing respect and consideration for others. Our OFSTED Inspection (September 2002) recognised that we are a good school, with strong leadership, management and good teaching. Inspectors reported that the pupils at The Westminster School are well looked after- they are safe, contented and happy.
WORKING IN PARTNERSHIP The Westminster School believes that we can provide a better quality of education for our pupils if we work in partnership with pupils, parents/carers, governors, the Local Education Authority and the wider community. Everyone wants our pupils to achieve the highest possible standards of education and personal development. The success of a school lies in the successes and achievements of its pupils. We can provide your child with a high quality, enjoyable education, working towards: EXCELLENCE FOR ALL |
