Dear Visitor,
I would like to welcome you to Thorns Primary School and offer you a little information about our school.
It is not so very long ago since I first visited and successfully applied for my post here. My first impressions of Thorns were that of a happy, welcoming school in which young children enjoyed learning together. My first impressions have been strengthened into a firm belief that we have a school that is safe, caring and keen to contribute to young lives in a way that is special to a small primary school. |
As a school we have taken time to share ideas about the sort of school we are and wish to be. Like all schools we are subjected to great pressures regarding inspections, test results and so on, but we believe that we have a clear sense of purpose regarding what we are about and what makes our school special. Our school is about children and their learning; staff and governors are keen to help our children learn as much as they can so that they can live rich and fulfilling lives.
As a visitor to our school I hope you can feel the sense of community and enjoyment in learning together for both children and adults. I also hope you can see the potential to build-as one governor recently put it- " a little gem of a school".
If you feel you would like to join our school community and share in the values we believe are important to young lives, please come and see us.
Yours faithfully,
David Priestley Headteacher
