The roll at present is 323. The school covers the stages from Primary 1 to Primary 7. As 33 is the maximum number of children in any one class and some of the stages have more than 33 of them, composite classes may have to be formed. Composite classes are smaller than classes containing children of one stage. Children in composite classes are rarely at any disadvantage but the work load of the teacher is considerably heavier, having to plan and prepare work for say Primary 4 and Primary 5 children.Classes in P1-3 have a maximum of 30 pupils. |
The school is non-denominational and co-educational. |
Gavinburn Early Education & Childcare Centre occupies two classes on the ground floor. This a community nursery run by West Dunbartonshire. |

The school is used for various evening activities within the community, such as Brownies and Guides. |
