Welcome to Cyffylliog School
Ysgol Cyffylliog is a naturally bilingual small rural primary school located in Cyffylliog village in the Vale of Clwyd, Denbighshire, North Wales. It caters for children from both Cyffylliog and Bontuchel villages and the surrounding area and has a friendly and homely atmosphere.
There are two classes - the Junior Class (Years 3, 4, 5 and 6) and the Infants' Class (Nursery, Reception, Years 1 and 2). We have two full time teachers, including the Headteacher, who has the charge of the older class, plus one part-time teacher and a part-time Nursery Assistant.
Approximately one third of pupils come from Welsh speaking homes, but as many as three quarters of the school’s pupils choose to be educated through the medium of Welsh.
Why raise children bilingually?
• Children who learn two languages are ahead with reading and counting. • Two languages offer a better choice of jobs. • Speaking two languages opens doors on new experiences and friends. • It becomes easier to learn more languages. • Two languages bring the wealth of two cultures.

Each and every child is given the chance to participate in all activities, whether within school time or extra curricular.
The Local Area
Cyffylliog and Bontuchel villages are situated on the slopes of Hiraethog Mountain, looking down into the Vale of Clwyd.
