ABOUT US

Al Jamiah Al Islamiyyah is an independent Muslim school, founded in 1992. The premise of the Institute, previously used as a hospital, was built in the late 19th century. It comprises of 5 acres of surrounding land and two-floor building, which consists of 50 rooms of different sizes and can accommodate up to 200 students.

The earliest age that can be accepted is 12 years. The schools offers all aspects of Islamic education coupled with a diverse secular curriculum, so that when they leave the can play an important role in society (both as Muslims and as Citizens). The vision of the school is based on the following criteria:

  • An Islamic Environment
  • Quranic Teachings
  • Secular Studies
  • Commitment to Personal Development

ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

From the moment the children enter the school we endeavour to give them a full and varied curriculum, both Islamic and Secular. As well as the traditional Islamic subjects (Quran, Arabic, Islamic studies, Urdu), the school offers English, Mathematics, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Religious Studies, and Science (Double & Single) as well as Citizenship studies. There is now fully functional PC suite to aid the teaching of ICT, and cross-curricular activities.

There is a functional library where the children can browse books and borrow them to increase their literary knowledge. Links with local colleges are being strengthened to ensure that the boys can undertake further studies and eventually go on to universities to further their careers.

It is our wish that after graduating as Hafiz/Alims, some boys will carry on to become doctors, engineers, theologians, and other ‘respected’ professions.

Tests and exams are now regularly taken to assess the progress of the boys, at all levels. The Institute continues to improve attainments at all levels, KS3 and GCSE’s. The boys are keen to attain high levels of grades to further their studies.

Overall, the School’s curriculum is challenging and demanding, designed to instil a love of learning, good study habits and the ability to think critically.

It is now well equipped to be able to teach the subjects needed for sound development of the boys, and give them a good chance to enhance the opportunities for achieving Academic Excellence, be it in the religious fields or otherwise.

At present there are 20 good-sized classrooms, which are used for Islamic curricula in the morning and Secular teachings in the afternoon. In addition, there is a good-sized and well-equipped computer suite as well as a modern science laboratory. Recently, we have installed modern classrooms for secular studies; which include table and chairs, video facilities, projection facilities and access to internet.

The last two resources are much needed in order to deliver the most modern and up to date curricula. Our eventual aim is to offer education, both Islamic and Secular, to levels which will make us proud to be associated with the Institute

Over the last few years the Institute has invested much resource in obtaining books in all areas of the Islamic Theology and Secular subjects.

Furthermore we have, at present, a number of computers where, the boys can learn IT and browse the Internet to expand their knowledge. We have acquired modern computers to enhance IT studies and give the boys the chance to study IT to a higher level.
